Critically evaluating sources is an important step in the research process. When evaluating a source, recognize that many factors may contribute to its usefulness, trustworthiness, and appropriateness for your assignments. The CRAAP Test is designed to assist you in evaluating resources by focusing your attention on the credibility, relevancy, authority, accuracy, and purpose of a source. Keep in mind that some criteria may be more applicable to certain source types than others. In addition, your assignment directions or research topic may call for the use of particular types of sources or ones published more or less recently.
