WORK DESCRIPTION: The Final 2024 Residential Metals Abatement Program (RMAP) Mandan Park Soil Remedial Action Work Plan (RAWP) (BSB and Atlantic Richfield Company, 2024) was approved by Agencies on July 1, 2024. This RAWP detailed a 14-inch deep soil excavation/replacement within sampling polygons PA1 and GA1. The third sampling polygon within the park (GA2) was designated a “no action” area because sampling results were below applicable residential soil removal action levels for arsenic, lead, and mercury. Excavation work at Mandan Park is on-going. During yesterday’s shift, the construction crew noted visually suspect material in the excavation sidewall of GA1 in the northwest corner of the park. Consistent with how similar situations have been handled at other RMAP non-residential sites in 2022 and 2023, Atlantic Richfield Company (Atlantic Richfield) is proposing to chase (and remove) this suspect material horizontally into sampling polygon GA2. The portion of GA2 containing visually suspect material will be remediated per the same requirements as GA1, as outlined in the Final 2024 RMAP Mandan Park Soil Remedial Action Work Plan (RAWP) (BSB and Atlantic Richfield Company, 2024).
