Paul Helfrich is a student in the Master’s of Ecological Restoration under Dr. Amy Kuenzi. He graduated from UMW in the spring of 2020 with a degree in Ecology and a minor in biological sciences. His research focuses on T. bryosalmonae detection through eDNA sampling. His undergraduate research at UMW focused on assessing the distribution of T. bryosalmonae in the nearby Beaverhead River and was published in the fall of 2020. Paul deeply interested in cultivating strong scientific research skills in undergraduate students and spreading his interest in the study of parasitic organisms and their role in restoration through environmental sampling.
