Debra Hanneman (MSc, U. Calgary; Ph.D. U. Montana), taught geoscience at Mount Royal College and Montana Tech, and field camp at Montana State University. She worked for the U.S.F.S in Wisdom, for the U.S.G.S. in SW Montana, and as a hydrogeologist for the Montana DNRC. In 1991, she started her own consulting company, Whitehall Geogroup, Inc. which does mineral assessment, hydrogeology, oil and gas, paleontological resource evaluation, geologic mapping, and manages the Geopostings.com and Earthmaps.com websites.

Debra has published widely on paleosols and continental sequence stratigraphy, and contributed a chapter on continental sequence stratigraphy and continental carbonates to Developments in Sedimentology, v. 62, 2010. Her other publications include Motherhood, The Elephant in the Laboratory: Women Scientists Speak Out (Cornell University Press), Tectonics, Climate Change, and Evolution: Southern Canadian Cordillera field guide (Association for Women Geoscientists), and Journeying Through Cuba’s Geology and Culture (Earth Magazine).
