Abstract
Driving between Butte, and Whitehall, Montana, on highway U.S. 10S, one observes an interesting phenomenon in the lower end of Little Pipestone Creek canyon. One side and the bottom of the canyon is cut inthe hard igneous rocks of the Boulder Batholith, and the other side of the canyon is made of unconsolidated sand, gravel, and cobbles.
