Abstract
Successful leadership in the conservation community depends upon leaders with a vision who can engage collaborators in a transaction to create something of enduring value. Ideally, results are achieved in a win-win fashion with other stakeholders. However, a good leader must employ a broader range of tools.

Jon Roush has a long record of achievement in the conservation community. He currently is a strategy consultant for conservation and education organizations, and a board member with Western Rivers Conservancy. He worked for The Nature Conservancy as Executive Vice President and later Chair of its Board of Governors; served as President of The Wilderness Society, was a program officer with the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and once owned a ranch on the Big Hole River.
